Our aim is reduce restrictive practice by 50% by April 2020 since starting the project in 2018 The project specifically focuses on 3 areas of restrictive practice:

  • Seclusion
  • Rapid tranquilisation
  • Physical Restraint

We also aim to…….

  • create a culture of positive and therapeutic engagement and,
  • ensure that restrictive interventions are used in a transparent and ethical manner

This project is very important to us as we are aware of the lasting effects restrictive practices can have on our service leaders Our challenge is to ensure that these are only ever used as a last resort and that we continue to explore alternative ways that violence/ aggression can be managed or prevented in the first place
